New Teacher Dine & Discuss

The PEA, in conjunction with the MEA, held a Dine & Discuss for teachers with 1-5 years of experience. MEA Vice President Chris Galgay and Executive Director Mark Gray attended along with MEA staff and Board members. Buddy Pinkham, our Uniserv Director, helped organize the event. The PEA was interested in gathering feedback from these teachers on the following questions:

What are your professional development needs as an early career educator?

How can your union best represent and support your professional development and employment needs?

The event brought together about 30 early career educators. PEA guests included: Superintendent O’Connor, Director of Elementary Education Whynot-Vickers, School Committee member Stephen Spring, and Director of Teacher Preparation Ken Jones. The MEA helped sponsor the event. Data from the evening is currently being collated and will be reported in the next Dispatcher. MEA leaders present at the event included our Uniserv Director Buddy Pinkham, Executive Director Mark Gray, MEA Vice President Chris Galgay, and Treasurer Losi Kilby. Mea IPD Committee members helped as table reporters and recorders.
